tommy tan't dough!!!

tonight mark, the boys, and i went to eat at toll house for supper. (lacee is with donnie, they are planning a trip to the memphis zoo tomorrow, and then he will bring her to our hotel tomorrow night)

when mark works 16 hour days, this is our only chance to see each other and since mark doesnt work out of town, i refuse to let my kids go for days without seeing their daddy if i can help it.

i had fed tommy, our food had came, and tommy was bored with the french fries i was offering him. there was no one else in the restaurant (it was near closing time) so our friendly waitress anna offered to take tommy and walk with him while we ate. we were grateful and told her thanks and to have fun!

big brother, on the other hand, was having none of it! "tommy tant dough" "you bring tommy back" "leave tommy lone"

he was so angry and upset.

we kept promising him they were right there, he could see them, tommy isnt going (doughing) anywhere, they were all just gonna play with him.

"i wanna play wif tommy" "i full" and pushed his untouched plate of food away.

after a trip to the potty he had calmed down.

i convinced him while in the bathroom that his grilled cheese sandwich was crying b/c it was cooked just for him and it was so sad he wasnt eating it.

a few crying sounds across the table and we got about 5 bites down him.

soon it was time to pay, and anna was still holding tommy, now behind the register.

we pretended to tell tommy bye, told mark anthony tommy was going home with anna for the night. he ran to tommy so fast, grabbed his little foot and was trying to pull him out of anna's arms. "no no no" "tommy tant dough"

he was breathing fast, so upset his brain was working faster than his mouth so his words were becoming mushed together as he explained how tommy didnt need to go, tommy had to go home with us.

he finally reasoned that if tommy had to go with anna that he had to go too.

it was so funny, so sweet, and so sad all at the same time.

so funny that he was getting so beside himself at the thought of a night without brother.

so sweet that he cared and loved his brother so much that he wasnt gonna let him out of his sight.

so sad that he was so upset, and that we think it was funny.

oh the way we torture our kids.

(i am throwing in a pic from the day tommy was born)
