last week was vacation bible school at our church.
it was my first time working a vbs, and i loved it!
i worked in the snacks for the 1st and 2nd graders.
our theme was "In the Beginning".
Day 1 -- creation. we gave each child a sugar cookie and a paint brush. on each table we placed plates with green and blue cake icing. the children painted the earth on their cookie before eating it.
Day 2 -- the fall of all. we gave each child a fruit roll up, and they rolled them into snakes. the original plan was to give the children a sugar cookie to use as the head of the snake and m&m's for the eyes, but we didnt.
Day 3 -- water, water everywhere. we gave each child a piece of toast and a paint brush. on each table we placed plates with red, blue, orange, and purple butter. they painted a rainbow on their toast before eating it.
Day 4 -- babble rabble. we gave each child a ziplock bag with 4 graham cracker squares, 10 thin pretzel sticks, a handful of mini-marshmallows, and a paint brush. on each table we placed plates with peanut butter. the children used the peanut butter to stick the items together as the built their towers before eating them.
this was mark anthony's first ever vbs, and he loved it. he is still asking to go back to vacation bible school!
tommy stayed in the nursery, where my friend amanda (see a link to her blog below) took care of him and several other little ones.
this was lacee's last year as a student at vbs, next year she will be a helper.
i remember going to vbs as a child, and i know my children will one day look back to these days and smile.
